Bao Rong: Artist Bao Rong is a skeptic. Therefore, her works are using different materials to visualize the meaning of rebellion in her heart. The way that she used to rise resistance against established rules is reversing the original function of everyday objects and putting them into a different context situation. Observing and questioning culture are forms of research that fuel her work. By nature, artist is resistant to conventional systems which support power and authority. Through the process of inversion and reversal she attempts to address these subjects. Expectations of human agency and ownership are put in question. Are land and air tangible entities? Can displacement reveal our fragility? How can humor expose the mechanisms that control us? Most of Rong’s works are sculpture and installation. Through her works, she likes to play with the space occupied by objects and interact with audience. Artist wants her work to encourage audiences not only to discover and experience vulnerability, but also to be tricked, and further to question the convention of this world, to discover the specific lack so to see the void, the human beings.
