More

The origin of this work comes from phone numbers advertising services that are randomly and repeatedly pasted and sprayed in the public areas of a neighbourhood. Some of these advertising messages become unrecognizable garbled codes. As a kind of social "calligraphy", they transmit information, whilst also constructing new sequences of symbols. The artist constructs irregular arrangements of numbers or words, creating garbled codes that change from concrete to abstract, forming unreadable symbols. Electronic page turners incessantly transmit this invalid information. However, it’s not that the garbled codes are uninterpretable, but that we have not yet mastered the method of interpreting them. When faced with the incomprehensible, we should perhaps revere it, or maintain silence.
