Chen Cen (1992 -), who started to create in 2017, has been troubled by anxiety disorder and regarded art as her important treatment. She insists on taking experimental art as the research direction. In terms of personal artistic concepts, she pays more attention to challenging the established cultural and artistic territory than to emphasizing the use of new materials and technologies. Influenced by the earlier professional background, she expounds artistic ideas in combination with interdisciplinary perspectives such as literature and linguistics. It interprets contemporary art in multiple dimensions and in her works.

It mainly makes the audience become the creators and components of the artworks by participatory interactive device forms nowadays, which blurring the boundaries between the artist, the work and the audience, and enabling individuals to participate in the creation of art. In the traditional viewing mode, the work-audience relationship is unitary convey and acceptance, and it assumes that the audiences have certain cultural capital to understand the works, which forming an elite idea that art is only for a single group to experience. Audiences are no longer viewers, but changed the relationship between audiences and artists through artworks. It shifts the audience's identity unwittingly, with the audience becoming the core to the artwork. Considering that there are many possible choices in different environments and stages, as well as the limitations and problems of different works, she has been tried to focus more spatial explorations on gallery buildings, artist studios or non exhibition venues, and continue to explore how to change the communication between works, artists and participants from one-way to multi-way. With opening up different perspectives on culture, identity and society, answers will been found in the exploration of contemporary art subject and subject remodeling.
