As a medium of memory, painting serves not only as proof of individual existence but also as a visual gene bank for the continuity of civilization. When Mei Yulu expresses the painterly nature of memory, she juxtaposes color, imagery, light-shadow, and emotional flow. Memory becomes a construction of "narrative identity" that weaves fragments of the past into stories, granting individual life coherence and significance. As German philosopher Walter Benjamin observed, memory functions as a form of "redemption" – by collaging scattered fragments of the past, it endows the present with depth and substance. Through contemplating these memory-interpreted paintings, we perceive not only our former selves but also our current being. The act of reconfiguring temporal shards in visual creation reveals the dialectical mirror between authenticity of recollection and fictionality of artistic representation within our era.-Hui Shuwen(Curator, Critic, Art Historian and Theorist)
