Most of his artworks are blown up portraits of young people. When the faces are enlarged, subtle expressions not usually noticed are enlarged too. Wang Kai sensitively captures their emotions, even those of a momentary nature which transfers to the portrait, those lost or depressed, dejected, full of ambiguity; wishing to speak, yet stopping on second thought. Due to drifting uncertainty, his masterpieces always attract people to quietly view and try to figure them out. It seems as plain as daylight; yet, it cannot be understood for the time being.
