Chen Sijia: The expression of abstract ideas and images is the language of my paintings with which I construct an

imaginary world. However, as an artist, I think of this imaginary world as my real life. I abstract my emotion,experiences,and memories and change them into the abstract symbols and strokes, make them the citizens of my painting space. I watch them grow up and evolve and dominate this whole world. In the process of painting, I never imagine the results of the final paintings. Instead, I let go of rationality and let my stream of consciousness freely present itself in the paintings.I sometimes work with large-scale works so that the images will surround the viewers in a way that they cannot take in all its content at once. As a result, they must travel through the painting with their eyes and emotions, as though it were a foreign land.
