Hou Yanyan: I always pay attention to the connections between my experiences maturing and the social element. Rene Magritte, the master of magic surrealism said, "Our arms contribute to making the tools of the war, and science serves destruction, slaughter, construction, and prolonging human deaths. All these are ridiculous movements and a kind of self contradiction among human beings." In other words, things that look good may be dangerous. As a small "individual", I am submerged in a world of self-contradiction. I hope viewers will feel some of the inherent danger in my works.
