Xu Hongxiang: I try to work with ready-made images and familiar scenes. This helps me organize my thoughts and my memories. I first print an image on the canvas with spray paint, then I infect it, make it fuzzy, make it incomplete. I make it crude, a fragment, never a complete picture. The idea of plot or narrative is of no interest to me. I care only about thinking and remembering. Some artists use many images when they paint, but I rpefer to deconstruct one image, to create a toolkit with which we all can deconstruct the worlds of today and yesterday.
