Su Yi: I create geometric abstract paint ings with great care and deliberation, considering the position of lines and sur faces,and combining structure and color in unison to explore the beaut y of balance in planar space. The color of each layer is mixed by roll coating paint. Adjustment of the thickness of materials, color, width and position of lines,and arranging of the overall compositioneventually coalesce into a series of geometric abstract works. Although I created these works through careful construction and meticulous, machine-like production, the key to creating them remains my aesthetic experience and intuitiveaesthetic control. I think inspiration based on personal experience is a strong impetus for creation.
