Wang Mingqing: I've been trying to figure out what my signature work is – that is to say, what is most indicative of myself. To me,creating seems like a process of converting a certain state of mind or personal experience into contents hidden in a seemingly random object. I once deemed that the person with a bit of a melancholic mood is the real me, and so thought that my piece"Door " - which renders the detached life of youth who live far from home - was the best revelation of myself. However, it latero ccurred to me that the inner emotions of people are changeable, contingent on the ups and downs in one's life experience. I then surmised that we should not conf ine ourselves to labelinga cer tain emotional state as ourselves. Accordingly, I then lost myself again.
