Wang Zhipin: My works are dark, simple, and concrete. They are like a mirror, reflecting my joys and sorrows. It's as if I'm crawling somewhere in a moonless rainy night, searching every corner for the lost moonlight. It is an adventurous journey, on which it suddenly occurs to me that what has been lost in the darkness is not only the moonlight, but also the possibility of freedom. As such, I use painting as a weapon to fend off negative energy and clear away the dark clouds to reach the light. As ent icing as

darkness is, it has the ultimate negative power of overwhelming and penetrating everything,even one's inner poetic life. It can leave one in a maze. Nonetheless, dar kness cannot strangle all the things that matter. Painting also functions as a notebook where images repl ace tex t,and a stage on which I act out my life in monodrama.
