For Ye Fan, painting the con temporary world through fine brushwork comes naturally. Starting from an architectural space that she is highly familiar with, she delicately and lightly depicts it s form and minute details. There is no established rule observable in her style of painting. She combines western lighting and arc shapes and Chinese fine brushwork, while also sometimes adopting freehand brushwork. Her technique is not one of rigid sketching and representation, but rather the constant recombination of various architectural spaces. Additionally, she is drawn to filling the se spaces with dissonant fur nishings and objects, which endow her paintings with a strong sense of vision and story. ( Hu Bin )
