Li Xuan: My work springs from my inner fear of the cold and uncaring world. The inspiration is born from my fear of the concealed danger and unknown part of my life. The relationship between the "exterior reality" and the "concealed truth" interests me a lot. The truth can sometimes be covered or concealed by people.  For instance, the plants in my paintings represent life and energy, but at the same time they conceal danger. Various kinds of plants appeared in daily life, full of energy and sunshine, but at the same time having a hidden side unknown to people. The plant has been drawn in my particular way, while it's identity as a plant is stripped away. The plants in my paintings are always hypocritical, on the one hand attempting to introduce beauty, while on the other hand actively concealing reality. The relationship between the plants and other elements in the drawing interest me a lot, and hints the reality that I attempt to convey in my work.
