Xu Feng: The series "Life is nothing but a roll of toilet paper" is my attempt to at using materials from daily life. I painted on rolls of toilet paper roses and items once popular but now no longer seen. I painted animals in danger of extinction, and I even painted ourselves among other subjects. Because of the characteristics of toilet paper, the color of the painting will gradually seep deeper into the roll, the image fading until it finally disappears. Just like our memories, or like love, any beautiful or embarrassing scenes in our mind will over time slowly vanish, and then after will allow for a new beginning, as life progresses in a calm and continuous cycle.
