As to his work, I just want to say that it runs against the current bright and delicate "Sichuan style" of the new generation, instead belonging to what the auction houses refer to as the "pitch black" style. Using terms recently coined by Wang Lin, the work can be called "Chinese" in the sense that it is based on China's tradition, and also in the sense that it is also product of what China is today: it brings elements of traditional Chinese painting into contemporary art.
