Zhou Zhanxun: I created the "Guardians" in this series out of nothing. They are reflections of my inner world, as well as walls of protection that allow me to feel "safe" inside. I combine different media and points in space-time, trying to explain them with these images, but during this process they become abstract to the point that I cannot describe them anymore with words. I really hope that these mysterious, monster-like figures can become more and more convincing to the viewers, because they only truly exist in my imagination. The "Soldiers" series represents a neutral view of violence and war. It has no connection to any other works of mine, like a burp of boredom rising up from my throat.
