Han Xiuzhi: The Fire Series and the Heating Series represent a summation of personal experience and reflection upon it, but also a self-expression of my subconscious. The works depict a deep experience of the cold winter living environment and the burning need for energy to keep warm. At the same time, I express in them a desire to remove the “burdens” we carry. Fire possesses a type of energy that cannot be replicated. It stimulates and excites me, but from time to time can also serve as a source of calm and a respite from feelings of being lost in this world. The Scenery of the Seaside is what I see and hear on a seaside island, transforming it into a snapshot of what I see inside my mind. The Black Cat series is inspired by my observation of the life of a cat I am raising. Spring, Beautify, Onlookers, and Line Up People are from my experience and impression of life in the city.
