The theme of Hou Hongxu's work is based on life-oriented scenes or portraits. It seems that the details of her work can be summed up as a whole. She tries to find a balance between classic and popular styles and encourages people to find deeper meaning in her art. She uses decorative techniques in some of her works to make them appear well-arranged, and as clean and clear as art created by printmaking. Her plane works show rich gradations through delicate techniques. These details, which are inadvertently presented on the painting, reveal that the artist gets hold of the delicate balance between classic and popular styles.
