Zhao Xiaodan:
In the painting, there are repeated figures, repeated landscapes, and repeated events. The repetition is not simply the superimposition of the same images, but is the expression of the feeling of deja vu in the society we live in. I also used to do the same thing among these people with same faces. I really hope to convey this feeling in my works.

I tried to establish a norm in my painting: the same costumes, regular alignments, and weakening the details. I minimize details unrelated to the theme, and detaching the figures from the background. In order not to make the theme stand out too abrupt, the background color is used only at the shadows of the figures. The facial features and characteristics of the figures are removed, and the large blocks, ground, and ladders only serve to integrate the main figures.
